Requests

Blinn College students have access to the majority of Blinn Library print resources located at any of its campuses. You can conveniently request books and audiovisuals that are not housed in your home campus library or place a "hold" on an item that is currently checked out, placing you in line to get the book after it is returned to the library.

How do I place my requests?

  1. Click on the Request button next to the desired item in your library catalog search to open the Request Wizard.
  2. If you are off campus you may need to use your MyBLINN information to sign in.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select your home campus as the pickup location.
  4. Click the Submit button. You will see an acknowledgement that your request was successfully submitted.

When will I receive the item(s) I requested?

  • Items requested for delivery to the Schulenburg, Sealy, or RELLIS campuses will be available within 24 to 48 hours, not counting weekend days.
  • When your item arrives, an email will be sent to your Blinn College email account. You can also log in to your library account in the catalog and check the status of requests you have submitted. When the requested item is available at your campus, the status column will say "Available."

Reserves

The library reserve system allows faculty to make additional course materials available to their students. An instructor can place a variety of items "on reserve," in the library, such as textbooks, supplemental readings, class notes and sample exams.

Blinn College students access reserve items in the library (ACB2 Rm. 111). Items check out for two hours and cannot be taken out of the room.  To see if your instructor has placed course material on reserve, check with a Blinn librarian or conduct a reserves search. If your instructor has not placed course material on reserve, please encourage them to do so.

Some typical kinds of materials instructors place on reserve are:

  • Blinn College library books and DVDs ( from any campus library)
  • Instructor/division-owned textbooks & study guides
  • Homework solutions, sample exams, and lecture notes supplied by instructor
  • Instructor-owned copies of books, video, or audio materials.

Need Additional Resources?

If Blinn Library does not have an item you need, it is possible to borrow a book or article from a non-Blinn library. There are two ways to obtain items from a library outside of the Blinn District:

  • TexShare

The TexShare program confers on current Blinn students, faculty and staff limited borrowing privileges at participating libraries throughout the state of Texas.  TexShare cards can be issued by a patron's home library.  The Blinn library is the home library for Blinn students, faculty and staff.  Come into or contact the Blinn library on your campus to learn more, including how to get a card.

  • InterLibrary Loan (ILL)

ILL allows current Blinn students, faculty and staff to borrow items owned by another library system. If you plan on using this service, please allow up to two weeks for delivery. Please complete the ILL form to request items.
