What is a Lockbox activity?

A lockbox activity is similar to an escape room.  Rather than breaking out of the room you are using clues to break into a box in order to win a prize

Oh Dear, What can the matter be?

Can you solve the disappearance of Agatha Christie?  In 1926 famed author Agatha Christie disappeared for 10 days, when she reappeared she had no memory of what happened.  Use Tertiary, Primary and Secondary sources to solve the clues and discover what happened to Agatha Christie.

This activity is geared toward Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Sources.

Level of Difficulty: Moderate

 

Captain Kidd’s Cache

You have stumbled upon a pirate treasure box, but it is all locked up.  You really want to know what treasure is inside but you will need to use all of your information literacy skills in order to solve each lock.  If you don’t, the treasure will end up at the bottom of Davy Jones Locker!

This activity is geared toward general library information.

Level of Difficulty: Moderate

 

Lend me your Ears

Myrtle the old librarian is very hard of hearing.  You’ve come to find out some information for your speech class, but she can’t hear what you are asking her.  She has accidentally lost her hearing aids and you must complete the clues and open all the locks to find them.  If you do, she will be able to help you.

This activity is geared toward Public Speaking.

The case of the Missing Librarian

Oh, no! Your favorite librarian, Ms. Lapaglia, has disappeared, and the stacks are a mess!

Now all your favorite books are on the wrong shelves, there are library cards scattered about, and all the card catalog drawers are out of order.

But wait … is there a pattern to the chaos? Did Ms. Lapaglia leave clues about her abductors that only a voracious reader like you would know how to decipher?

Let’s hope you’re up to the challenge! Ms. Lapaglia and the future of the library itself are counting on your knowledge of classic literature and your wits!

Time After Time

You and your group have stumbled upon a time machine– a chance to go back and correct all the mistakes you made in college!  You hop in and are transported back to the beginning of the semester, but Oh, No! You’ve lost the keys to the time machine.  Luckily you find this box that seems to have a spare set of keys! Solve the clues to find the key to the time machine.
