Faculty and Staff Information

Request Instruction

Librarians provide instruction in the use of information resources and in research strategies and techniques. Instruction is provided in specialized presentations arranged at the request of instructors, in individual consultations with students, and through user guides available in the libraries and on the web. Instructors are required to accompany their students to instruction sessions scheduled during class time. Instructors wishing to arrange library instruction for their classes should fill out the following form.

Library Assignments

To better serve your students, we ask instructors to provide the library with copies of written library assignments and to advise the librarians of all library-related assignments in advance. The library staff needs to know the objectives of an assignment, especially if the purpose is to learn to use a specific reference tool or research strategy. Library assignments for Blinn College students should use the resources of the Blinn College library. The librarians will be glad to assist instructors in designing assignments that will accomplish their educational goals while taking advantage of the library's assets.

Classes in the Library

Please notify the library when a class is to meet in the library, whether or not presentations by the librarians are desired. Scheduling class visits helps prevent overcrowded conditions in the library. Instructors are required to accompany their students in the library during class time. Fill out the following form as soon as possible to schedule class visits. Out of courtesy to other library users, faculty are asked to conduct student conferences outside the library.
