Here are the best Blinn Library research tools to use to complete this lab.
1. Need a list of Texas endangered species to choose from?
Texas Parks & Wildlife Rare, Threatened and Endangered Species by County
2. Already know which species you want to research? Find the answers to most questions at:
NatureServe Explorer
3. To find 3 research articles on your chosen species, use:
SABER Search Tip: get rid of any results except the ones from scholarly journals by clicking on Academic Journal under Source types in the box to the left of the results.
Not all articles in these journals are scholarly, peer-reviewed research articles. Look for the following characteristics of research articles from scientific journals:
· author's credentials are stated
· article title reflects article content
· content based on original research or work of authorities in the field (not personal opinion)
· supporting diagrams/tables/illustrations
· Usually include the following sections:
-
- abstract (summary)
- review of literature
- theory or background information
- statement of subjects
- methods
- results
- discussion
- references to sources of information
