Great Databases for Technical Writing

The following databases are valuable resources for anyone taking ENGL 2311 or for those developing a personal business plan.

This database contains articles and e-books with start-up kits and example business plans.

  • Writing a business plan: an e-book that covers all aspects of writing a business plan. In chapter 1 (page 4,) there is a helpful table that lists all the recommended sections of a complete business plan and whether a section should also be included in a shorter, "Quick Business Plan."
  • Sample business plans:  a selection of business plans covering a variety of enterprises.
  • Small Business Start-Up Kit: an e-book covering major aspects of beginning and operating a business. Includes a single-chapter treatment of writing a business plan, as well as two chapters on marketing and a chapter on growing a business and hiring personnel.

This database has a very broad scope with an excellent mix of scholarly, trade, and newspaper publications from business presses. Also includes short analysis, industry overviews, product reviews, and market reports. This database can be searched by NAICS code or description.
