Mission: To foster the appreciation, understanding, and teaching of the rich and unique history of Texas and, by example and through programs and activities, encourage and promote research, preservation, and publication of historical material affecting the state of Texas.

The Texas Historical Commission preserves and operates 41 state historic sites across Texas. These unique places honor Texas history and inspire an understanding of what it means to be a Texan.

Here you will find unique materials for research, learning, and discovery from Houston Public Library Special Collections, including archival material from the African American History Research Center at the Gregory School (AAHRC), the Family History Research Center at the Clayton Library Campus (FHRC), and the Houston History Research Center at the Julia Ideson Building (HHRC).

The Southwestern Historical Quarterly, continuously published since 1897, is the leading scholarly journal for Texas history and also features content relating to the history of the Greater Southwest. It is offered as a benefit of membership in the Texas State Historical Association.

Journal of Texas Archeology and History.org is a Non-Profit Corporation whose mission is to promote free and open-access digital publication of research manuscripts to the widest possible audience. JTAH.org will publish its own annual journal of peer-reviewed original research on relevant archeology and history of the region we have coined “the Texas Borderlands”.

The Texas Historian is a monthly journal first appearing in 1970 and running to the present. It is published in Austin, Texas by Texas State Historical Association.
